MUSIC INDUSTRY INSIGHT – MMR Productions USA

For the last month or so I’ve been booking a tour for two bands and a label from Italy which has been going extremely well. During my booking process I have came across a lot of new venues all over California and very anticipated to book more tours for other bands/labels.

So far I have taken a look at all the underground/signed scene’s shows in California…. in which I’m glad to see metal and hard rock succeed.

There are some bands I used to book still going at it with their labels and lots of new bands I’ve yet to hear. One day I hope to have the free time to listen to all these new bands albums, but until then I’m busy listening to the bands on the tour rosters.

I also wanted to give some tips to all the touring bands out there with or without a label…..about how extremely important it is to have a tour budget. If you are touring without one and still doing it then that means you’re on top of your game. While for those who aren’t…. try to have one next time.

A few ways to achieve a budget is to either save all your bands sales/show payouts for a whole year, save additional money from jobs, then determine the horizons of your tour. Another way is to join music contests to win a tour budget. Last but not least….seek trustworthy sponsors to help pay for the tour while your tour promotes their companies.

MOST IMPORTANTLY……keep track of all your expenses so you can write it off on taxes. THIS EVEN INCLUDES PAY TO PLAY EVENTS! This is how you succeed in today’s music industry.
